SKF 99114 SPEEDI-SLEEVE is a shaft repair sleeve for restoring the surface on which a radial shaft seal operates. Reference 99114 is designed for a nominal shaft diameter of 30.00 mm, with an actual shaft diameter range of 29.95 to 30.07 mm. Its sleeve width b1 is 8.00 mm, total width b is 11.00 mm and flange diameter D is 35.56 mm.
SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE is designed to repair a worn shaft surface at the contact track of a radial shaft seal. Instead of machining the shaft to a different diameter, the thin sleeve is installed over the damaged area to provide a new running surface for the sealing lip.
This is particularly important when a wear groove has developed where the seal lip contacts the shaft. Replacing the seal alone does not restore the damaged counterface; SKF 99114 covers that area with a new sealing surface.
SKF states that SPEEDI-SLEEVE allows the same nominal seal size to be used after repair.

The dimensional system used for SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE 99114 should not be confused with the conventional d x D x B notation used for rolling bearings.
SKF specifies:
Nominal Shaft Diameter: 30.00 mm
Minimum Shaft Diameter: 29.95 mm
Maximum Shaft Diameter: 30.07 mm
D - Flange Diameter: 35.56 mm
b1 - Sleeve Width on Shaft: 8.00 mm
b - Total Width: 11.00 mm
B - Maximum Distance: 17.48 mm.
The critical selection value is therefore not simply "30 mm". The actual shaft diameter should fall within the specified 29.95-30.07 mm range.
SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE is a thin-walled stainless steel sleeve installed over the shaft at the radial seal running surface.
SKF specifies AISI 304 stainless steel for standard SPEEDI-SLEEVE products. The sleeve surface becomes the new counterface for the radial shaft seal lip.
The design also incorporates an installation flange. This flange assists during installation and can be removed when required by the available space or final arrangement.
A radial shaft seal operates with its sealing lip running against the rotating shaft surface. Over time, a wear track or groove can form at this contact position.
Installing a new radial shaft seal does not eliminate that groove.
SKF 99114 SPEEDI-SLEEVE is installed over the worn shaft area and creates a new running surface for the seal lip. This enables the shaft sealing surface to be restored without reducing the shaft diameter through machining.
SKF also specifies that use of SPEEDI-SLEEVE does not require a different nominal seal size.
The shaft diameter range is the primary selection parameter for SKF 99114.
The nominal shaft diameter is:
30.00 mm
SKF specifies the permissible shaft range as:
Minimum: 29.95 mm
Maximum: 30.07 mm.
The shaft should therefore be measured before ordering. Selecting a SPEEDI-SLEEVE solely from the nominal shaft dimension in a machine drawing is less precise than checking the actual diameter at the repair location.
SKF specifies:
b1 = 8.00 mm
for the sleeve section positioned on the shaft.
The total width is:
b = 11.00 mm.
These dimensions should not be treated as interchangeable. The position of the existing wear groove and seal lip should be checked against the usable sleeve surface before installation.
Standard SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE products are manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel.
This material forms the new counterface on which the radial shaft seal lip operates.
SKF 99114 should therefore not be treated as technically identical to an unspecified generic 30 mm repair sleeve solely because the nominal shaft diameter is the same.
SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE is designed for installation over the existing shaft surface. SKF supplies SPEEDI-SLEEVE with an installation tool and states that shaft dismantling is generally not required for the repair procedure.
Before installation, the shaft should be checked for diameter, surface damage and burrs. The sleeve must be positioned so that the radial seal lip runs completely on the restored sleeve surface rather than on the original wear groove or an edge.
The installation flange can be removed if required after the sleeve has been correctly positioned.
When selecting an alternative to SKF 99114 SPEEDI-SLEEVE, nominal shaft diameter alone is insufficient.
The important parameters to compare include:
A generic repair sleeve described simply as "30 mm" should not automatically be considered a verified technical equivalent to SKF 99114.

SKF 99114 is designed for a 30 mm nominal shaft diameter. The specified actual shaft diameter range is 29.95-30.07 mm.
The nominal shaft diameter is 30 mm. SKF specifies b1 = 8.00 mm, b = 11.00 mm, D = 35.56 mm and B = 17.48 mm maximum.
It is used to restore a worn shaft surface where the lip of a radial shaft seal operates. The sleeve covers the worn area and provides a new seal counterface.
Standard SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE products are manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel.
No. SKF states that SPEEDI-SLEEVE allows the original nominal seal size to be retained after the repair.
No. SKF specifies an acceptable shaft diameter range of 29.95 to 30.07 mm for reference 99114.
No. It is a shaft repair sleeve for the radial shaft seal running surface, not an adapter, withdrawal or inner-ring sleeve used for mounting rolling bearings.
Not automatically. Shaft diameter range, sleeve width, installation geometry, material and the position of the seal running track should all be compared before confirming interchangeability.
SKF 99114 SPEEDI-SLEEVE is an AISI 304 stainless steel shaft repair sleeve for restoring the running surface of a radial shaft seal. It fits a nominal 30 mm shaft, with an actual diameter range of 29.95-30.07 mm. Dimensions include b1 = 8 mm, b = 11 mm and flange diameter D = 35.56 mm.
